Invitation for ‘Expressions of Interest’ and provision of formal quote: Design and Build Project to Remodel Visitor Reception at Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park.

 The Opportunity:

Buxton Civic Association (Registered Charity 258163) are pleased to have secured funding to renovate the visitor reception and aspects of the visitor route at Poole’s Cavern, Buxton, SK17 9DH. They now invite expressions of interest leading to provision of formal quotes from experienced ‘design and build contractors’, who can help us deliver this project within the scope and parameters agreed with our funder.

Scope of Works:

The following tasks will need to be completed:

  • Refine designs & management of the project.
  • Create, supply and install a photo backdrop on sub frame to main facade to support 2 x 70” screens. (Client to supply photography.)
  • Create, supply and install printed vinyl to right hand of reception wall applied over paint finish.
  • Design, produce and install printed dibond inserts to the front of the current reception desk.
  • Supply and install 4 x HDMI flat screens – 2 rear wall, 1 side wall, 1 front window.
  • Supply and install Brightsign controls to operate 2 x paired screens
  • Supply and install 4 x Screen mounts
  • Supply and fit cabling to support above requirements
  • Window graphics to be designed, supplied and applied to rear of glass in Monkey House created from content supplied by BCA
  • Current reception backdrop (fake cave wall) to be recycled elsewhere on site to create photo opportunity.
  • Design, Supply and Installation of Interpretation panel within carpark to promote volunteering/membership and act as an introduction to the site.

 Timescales:

  • The BCA/Poole’s Cavern Management Team will be available to discuss this project via pre-arranged appointment between publication of this opportunity and 24 January 2026.
  • Formal written quotes should be submitted by 26 January 2026 to dave.green@buxtoncivicassociation.org.uk
  • If required on site interviews will take place week beginning 2 February 2026.
  • It is hoped that work will take place on site between the evening of 1 March 2026 and the evening of 5 March 2026. We are open to negotiation on these dates, but must work around commitments and are mindful of completion before Easter 2026 and associated school holidays.

 Renumeration:

A sum of up to £14,400 (inclusive of VAT if applicable) is available for this project.

Payment will be made within 28 days of submission of detailed invoice.

Wider Considerations:

  • It should be recognised that work may need to be considered whilst the Poole’s Cavern Visitor Centre is open to the public.
  • It may be possible for the contractor to work ‘out of hours’, completing some tasks in the evening.

  • Applications will be assessed on a ‘best value’ basis, in line with the requirements of the funder.
  • Alongside their written quote contractors should submit evidence of public indemnity insurance (£10 Million.)
