Stronger Roots - Regeneration and healing in Buxton's community woods
In the past few years, many people have turned to Buxton’s ten community woodlands as places for respite and healing. In response, Buxton Civic Association have been awarded funding for The Stronger Roots project. This will run until December 2023 and will help build on this momentum to benefit both our woodlands and people.
The project will continue to develop a series of community events and activities to help everyone access and enjoy our woodlands. These will grow our connection to nature and bring health and wellbeing benefits to us all.
Combined with tackling the ash dieback crisis, by creating regeneration clearings to promote new growth and germinate seeds. This will help regenerate the woodlands and ensure that they can be enjoyed by our community far into the future.
This project was originally funded by the government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund. But is now primarily funded by The National Lottery Community Fund along with a few smaller grants from The Bingham Trust and the Satterthwaite Bequest along with core funding directly from the BCA.
